Natanis Members & Friends,
It has come to our
attention that not everyone has received there Spring 2005 Newsletter. We
apologize for this, possibly caused by a postal snafu. Attached you will find
a copy of the letter, also you should be receiving the written copy shortly.
Although some of you will have only short notice, we still hope to see you at
our Open House this weekend. Were not sure what happened, but we hope it was
an isolated incident and will be corrected in the future.
Natanis Spring Letter 2005
March 2005,
We hope this winter
finds you healthy and happy, Believe it or not, spring and the 2005 golf
season at Natanis are on the way. We are looking forward to another great year
at Maine's largest golf facility entering it's 40th year of business. The
course appears to be handling the reported third coldest and fifth snowiest
winter on record. There has been some ice coverage in spots but barring an
extended winter we should be in good shape for the upcoming season.
The maintenance
crew, with a little help from mother nature, has been thinning trees and brush
along the tree lines to help find the occasional errant shot and speed up the
pace of play. There will also be some new environmental signs for the ravines
on Tomahawk and we would appreciate everyone following the State law by
staying out of the environmental hazards. Our Assistant Superintendent Charlie
McCann and your resident Golf Professional, (Yes Dick) have been clearing the
greens this winter in hopes of keeping any ice build up to a minimum.
The clubhouse is
currently getting a slight face-lift with a new carpet (300 yards!) and there
are plans for a stop over shack on the crossroads of Tomahawk which should be
operational this summer. Merchandise is arriving daily at the pro shop.
Utility irons from Hogan, Cobra, Titleist and Ping are all available as well
as Sun Mountain carts and bags. Footjoy has introduced a new line of shoes,
which are in the shop now and ready for your trip to points south this spring.
Those of you interested in new clubs are more than welcome to set up a custom
fitting appointment anytime. Someone is usually in the shop 9-3 Mon - Fri and
Starting March 12th & 13th, on the weekends 10 - 2. There are plenty of
sale items available for those interested in getting an early jump on the Open
House.
The Open House will
be held March 19th and 20th from 10 -4. Please feel free to come and join us
for free coffee and donuts as well as raffle and sale items. We are pleased to
say the memberships will remain reasonably priced, having gone up just $25.00.
This is our first increase in three years and will almost cover the fuel
increase we incurred in the 2004 season! As always we are committed to
providing the best (and only) 36 - hole golf experience in Maine. We are
looking forward to seeing you on the 19th and 20th of March.
