2004 Natanis Spring Letter
Dear Natanis members and friends,
Welcome to the 2004 golf season at Natanis – a new beginning for all of us. While we continue to miss Bobby, those of us taking on new or expanded responsibilities are excited about our plans to take his legacy to the next level in the golfing experience. Those of you who have not yet met Jimmy will have an opportunity to do so at the Open House on March 20th and 21st as well as on the course this summer. Jim’s son Kevin has brought his experiences from a course outside of Chicago to become course superintendent at Lakewood, leaving Jimmy free to be General Manager of both courses. (Kevin will be the one who looks like Allen but has the big dog, not the fast one.)
Allen, with his multi-talented crew, will take on full responsibility for the maintenance of our 36 holes in Vassalboro. Rob will continue to keep the clubhouse stocked and running smoothly as well as booking tournaments and functions. Dick will be fresh from Ping fitting school and ready to custom fit you in either Ping or Titleist clubs this year. This is always a good time to drop off clubs for repair and re-gripping and talk about lessons as well. Taylor and Julie are hoping that plant loss won’t be too high after this cold winter as they continue around the course with gardens.
We are happy to say that memberships and green fees will remain the same price as last year. However, memberships will no longer include the handicap fee. In order to reactivate your handicap you will need to pay $15.00 at the desk. The MSGA has increased their charge to Natanis to the point that we can no longer absorb the cost of this service. Improvements to the course this year will include cart path paving, tree line clearing and fine tuning in general. We are more than willing to entertain any constructive ideas you might have to make Natanis Golf Course a better place to golf.
As we look forward to a great season, we thank everyone again for their help and support last fall. We wouldn’t be here without you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the clubhouse during regular business hours; otherwise we will see you on March 20th and 21st, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sincerely,
The Brownes
