Printer Friendly 2008 About NWGA

About NWGA…

NWGA was formed in 1984 for the purpose of  promoting good fellowship and golf.

Membership is open to all women golf members of Natanis Golf Course and other ladies who wish to become members.  Members must be willing to abide with the By-Laws and rules, and participate in its activities.

Dues are payable at the Spring Meeting.    Ladies, aged 72 yrs and older are exempt from yearly NWGA dues.

Dues for 2008 are $15.00.

Guest Policy…

A person may play as a guest once a season with either the Thursday or the Saturday group (without joining the tournament) before joining NWGA.

MEETINGS…

There are usually two meetings for NWGA members held annually.

SPRING MEETING (5/3/08)

There is a 9-hole scramble, followed by a luncheon and a meeting.  Plans for the coming year are announced and any unfinished or new business is discussed.

FALL MEETING (9/13/08)

Again, there is a 9-hole scramble, followed by a luncheon and meeting.  Various committee reports, old & new business and election of officers are addressed at this meeting.  Various awards for the current season are also given at this time.

TOURNAMENTS...

We get together to enjoy golf every Thursday & Saturday from May to September to play a

round of golf and socialize with our fellow-golfers.

THURSDAYS… (start 5/08/08)

Each Thursday, women wanting to play either 9 or 18 holes show up by 9 AM to sign up.  Groups are formed and tee times start at 9:30.

The STAFF SCRAMBLE is a very popular annual tournament.  In 2008, it will be played on August 21st.

SATURDAYS (start 5/10/08)

Each Saturday, women wanting to play 18 holes show up by 7:15 during summer months (may be a bit later in Spring & Fall).  A tournament coordinator will be assigned each week to sign you up, collect money ($5.00) and explain the day’s tournament.  Members post their own scores, but turn cards in to Dick for scoring. (Prizes in gray money [Natanis credit])

SPECIAL TOURNEYS...

PRESIDENT’S CUP  (start 06/07/08)

The President’s Cup is played in match play format, net scores only.  The matches are set up according to USGA protocol.  Each match is played within a 2-week period or less until a single winner is determined.  Matches begin in early June and end in mid-August.  Entry fee is $5.00 and is payable either at the Spring Meeting or when you sign up (at least one week prior to the start of the matches.)

GOVERNOR’S CUP (start 6/14/08)

The Governor’s Cup is also played in match play format, net scores only; however, this tourney is played with a partner, choosing the best ball for the team score.  The matches are set up according to USGA protocol.  Each match is played within a 2-week period or less until a single team is the winner.  Matches begin in mid-June and end in August.  Entry fee is $5.00 and is payable either at the Spring Meeting or when you sign up (at least one week prior to the start of the matches.)

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (8/16 & 8/17)

This tournament is not a NWGA-specific tournament, but rather is open to all women Natanis club members.  It has traditionally been a 36-hole tournament played on a single weekend in August, using flights and no handicaps.  18 holes are played on each course.  In 2007, this tournament will be played on two consecutive Saturdays in August.  In 2007, sign-up must be by Aug 11th .

OTHER COMPETITIONS…

CHIP-INS, BIRDIES & EAGLES are recorded each time you play in a NWGA event or a club event.  Turn scorecards in to the Pro Shop.  They will be passed on to the VP for posting (don’t forget to write chip-ins on card). Prizes are awarded at the Fall Meeting.

 RINGERS...

Your best score on each hole is recorded throughout the season—Gross & Net prizes awarded.  Cost is $5.00 per course, payable at Spring Meeting.

GOALS...

One stroke below your best score is the score to achieve.  Prizes awarded for all those who “meet or break their goal”.  Cost is $3.00 per course, payable at Spring Meeting.

2-CLUB...

Not a specific NWGA function, but rather just a fun game for those who want to participate.  To become a member of the “2-Club”, you must score a two when playing with a “2-Club” member.  Once a member, you will receive $1.00 from any other “2-Club” member in the foursome whenever you  score a two.  See Denise Hennessey if you qualify for the “2-Club.”
